EAS365   The Two Koreas and their Neighbours   (20 credits)

Description

This module examines the foreign relations of two Koreas and their neighbours from 1945 to today. By exploring various materials ranging from English translations of Korean primary sources to foreign diplomatic documents and Korean documentary films, we will analyse the historical context of contemporary inter-Korean relations and East Asian international relations (China, Japan, the United States, and Russia). We will also discuss major questions in understanding foreign policies, such as the roles of individual leaders, domestic politics, international environment, and inter-cultural contexts.
